Mission Statement
IDEM’s mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial and government activities vital to a prosperous economy. In 2010, the Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) was updated to strengthen the VOC regulations specified in: Indiana Department of Environmental Management Title 326 Air Pollution Control Division ARTICLE 8. VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUND RULES The previous version of Title 326 Article 8 was enacted in 1996. This lengthy statute contains many tables specifying VOC content limits for many Architectural and Industrial Maintenance (AIM) Coatings and Commercial and Consumer Products. Indiana revised the rules in 2010 – 2012. They split the regulations into separate AIM and Commercial and Consumer Products rules:Article 8-14 Architectural and Industrial Maintenance (AIM) Coatings The revised rules became effective August 30, 2012. The Table beginning on page 121 lists the VOC content limits for a wide range of coatings.
